Features and Future Development

Department is especially well known throughout Taiwan for children's literature and calligraphy teaching in addition to a considerable extent of achievement in our teaching of Chinese . Students who participate in children's literature writing competitions and calligraphy contests have won many prizes over the years. Also, in 2005, the Andersen 200th Anniversary Fairy Tale Colloquium was held in our school.  Our department made calligraphy into a reference item for the recommended recruitment exam from 1994 to 2005. We have been recognized domestically and internationally for our outstanding teachers, facilities, and courses related to calligraphy. Our graduate school offers a master's degrees-the program is divided into Chinese language and Taiwanese language, a division which reflects social changes that place more emphasis on native language and literature teaching.

Our short-term goals

1.Offer a doctoral program in Chinese language and literature, and graduate programs covering Taiwanese literature, children's literature, and Chinese art calligraphy.

2.Set up a credential program, with Ministry of Labor Affairs' Bureau of Job Training, to develop students' career skills in cultural and education-related fields.

3.Strengthen interactions and cooperation with related institutes, such as schools of all levels and mass media, to offer our expertise in educating the society.
